COLCOA French Films and Series Festival returns to West Hollywood from
April 24th to May 2nd 2017 at the Directors Guild of America.
April 4th 2017, Consul General of France, Christophe
Lemoine, COLCOA’s Executive Producer and Programmer Francois Truffart
and Variety’s Chief Fil Critic Peter Debruge announced the line-up for
the 21th COLCOA French Films and Series Festival during a press
conference at the Residence of France.

On Monday April 24th, the Festival will begin opening night with the
North American premiere of Oscar-winning Writer/Director Claude
Lelouch’s "Everyone’s Life". Celebrating 50 years of cinema, this
ensemble film offers a high profile cast of 50 French actors, including
Johnny Hallyday and Oscar-winner Jean Dujardin.
The 9-day festival will feature new work by leading filmmakers such
as Marco Bellocchio, Nicolas Boukhrief, Stéphane Brizé, Bruno Dumont,
Lisa Azuelos, Philippe Lioret, Hugo Gélin, Philippe Lacheau, Dany Boon,
and more!
COLCOA will close on Tuesday May 2nd with the North American premiere
of Éric Lavaine’s new romantic comedy, "You Choose", starring Alexandra
Lamy.
Other fun programs include the After 10 Series, COLCOA Classics,
COLCOA.doc, World Cinema Produced by France, Focus on a Filmmaker
(Stéphane Brizé), Film Noir Series, French NeWave 2.0, Happy Hour Talks,
Jean-Claude Peti.

“Colcoa will reach a new level in 2017 with two new categories – a
virtual reality program and web series competition – added to the
Cinema, Television, and Shorts competitions,” said François Truffart,
executive producer and artistic director. “These two new popular formats
offer more opportunities to showcase the creativity of French producers
and filmmakers as well as the diversity of French production.”
The lineup includes titles from established writer/directors,
including Marco Bellocchio (“Sweet Dreams”), Nicolas Boukhrief (“The
Confession”), Stephane Brizet (“A Woman’s Life”), Bruno Dumont (“Slack
Bay”), Lisa Azuelos (“Dalida”), Philippe Lioret (“A Kid”), Edouard Baer
(“Open at Night”), Marie-Camille Mansion-Chaar (“Heaven Will Wait”),
Hugo Gelin (“Two is a Family”), Philippe Lachaud (“Alibi.com”), and Dany
Boon (“R.A.I.D. Special Unit”).
The festival will also present the work of newcomers such as Nicolas
Bedos (“Mr. & Mrs. Adelman”), Grand Corps Malade and Mehdi Idir
(“Step by Step”), Morgan Simon (“Taste the Ink”), Anne-Gaëlle Daval
(“Ladies”), Emmanuel Courcol (“Ceasefire”) and Ludovic and Zoran
Boukherman (“Willy 1”).
Actors Patrick Bruel (“A Bag of Marbles”), Lambert Wilson (“The
Odyssey”), Alexandra Lamy (“You Choose”), Dora Tillier (“Mr. & Mrs.
Adelman”), and Sveva Alviti (“Dalida”) will also be in attendance at the
festival.
The festival includes the Happy Hour Talks, a series of panels presented in association with Variety
(April 25-29) that are free to the general public. The final panel will
be dedicated to French film composer, Jean-Claude Petit, who will meet
the audience on April 29.
This year’s TV lineup include the fantasy thriller “Transfer” (Season
1); thriller “The Frozen Dead” (Glacé) (Season 1); political thriller
“Baron Noir” (Season 1); drama “Manon 20 Years” (mini series); comedy
“Beautiful Loser” (Season 1); and thriller “Midnight Sun” (Season 1).
The category will also include four recently awarded TV dramas: “Box
27,” “Plessis’ Girls,” “Nadia” and “Marion Forever 13.”
The festival is funded by the Franco-American Cultural Fund, a
partnership of the Directors Guild of America, the Motion Picture
Association, France’s Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers of
Music, and the Writers Guild of America West with the support of L’ARP
(France’s Association of Authors, Directors, and Producers), the CNC,
the Los Angeles Film and TV Office of the French Embassy, TV France
International, and Unifrance.
FREE SCREENINGS
At COLCOA, there are many opportunities to see French films and
series for free. Here is a list of complimentary screenings offered in
2017. No reservation is needed for free screenings. No ticket is
delivered. Admission is on a first come, first served basis.
BLIND DATE WITH A FRENCH FILM (APRIL 25 - 6 PM)
Now a tradition and a unique experience to start the festival: A
"Blind Date" with an exclusive new film at COLCOA. The film is not

Frustrated when a feature film is shown without a short at COLCOA? We
know the feeling... Don't miss one of the most exciting parts of the
COLCOA program with all shorts presented together on Sunday April 30,
for the COLCOA Shorts Competition. Attend Program 1 at 11:00 am and Program 2 at 4:30 pm and vote for the COLCOA Audience Short Film Awards.
MORNING RERUNS (APRIL 26-MAY 1ST)
For six days, COLCOA starts with the
rerun of a film shown earlier during the week. Morning Reruns are at
11:00 am (Wednesday to Friday), 9:00 am (Saturday and Sunday) and 12:00
pm (last Monday).
The film shown is announced at 10:00 pm the evening before the
screening, on site in the DGA lobby, on colcoa.org, on Facebook, Twitter

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM: MASTER CLASSES & HIGHSCHOOL SCREENINGS (APRIL 25-MAY 1ST)
Celebrating 10 years of support of a new generation of Foreign film
viewers, in partnership with ELMA, the educational program at COLCOA is
