Madame Tussaud's Hollywood Unveiled Judge Jason Derulo in Wax

By Karen Ostlund in Hollywood, CA
"So You Think You Can Dance" judge, dancer and singer Jason Derulo met his wax double May 19th 2016 at Madame Tussaud’s Hollywood, and struck a pose side-by-side with the figure. Following the dramatic unveiling, Derulo gave a special performance for his fans on the rooftop of the attraction.

“This place is a staple in Hollywood. When you’re walking or driving down Hollywood Boulevard, this is one of the places you have to come. It’s literally a legendary place, so to be a part of that family is such a blessing,” said Derulo.

Derulo personally selected the unique pose for his wax figure capturing one of his signature dance moves, unlike any Madame Tusssauds has created in its 200+ year history.
Derulo’s wax figure, which is styled with black Golden Denim jeans that he personally donated and red Nike Air Force One sneakers, is valued at more than $350,000.

Jason Derulo performed at the roof of Madame Tussaud, last Thursday May 19th.
Prior to the unveiling, Madame Tussaud's Hollywood released the first look of its expert team of sculptors and artists capturing Derulo’s measurements and likeness, as well as selecting the perfect matching hair and eye color for his figure. The session lasted more than two hours and over 250 measurements were taken.

“Jason’s figure is our most dynamic yet! It made for a very interesting sitting, which took almost three hours. We had to ask Jason to recreate one of his signature dance moves numerous times to ensure a perfect recreation,” said Colin Thomas, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hollywood. “It’s a great addition to our A-List party room – and a fun selfie opportunity!”

In the last six years since ascending to stardom, Derulo has sold over 55 million singles worldwide, all of which have been co-written by the artist himself.  Jason Derulo, who got his start writing hits for other a-list artists such as Lil Wayne, Pitbull, Diddy and more, has seen his eye-grabbing music videos amass over 3 billion views on YouTube.
His music has been streamed over six billion times on Spotify, and his singles have aired on radio to an audience of over 17 billion since his debut single "Whatcha Say."
His four acclaimed studio albums have accumulated eleven Top 10 singles (including four #1 singles on the Hot 100):  "Whatcha Say," "In My Head," "Ridin' Solo," "Don't Wanna Go Home," "It Girl," "The Other Side," "Marry Me," "Talk Dirty," "Wiggle," "Trumpets," and "Want To Want Me."  Equally as influential overseas, Jason Derulo has had four #1 singles in the UK, with "Want To Want Me" staying at #1 for four weeks in 2015.  Jason Derulo continues to remain at the forefront of modern music, of both urban and pop music.

Madame Tussauds Hollywood is Los Angeles' premiere Hollywood destination offering guests the world's only opportunity to interact with incredibly lifelike iconic figures from the celebrity worlds of film, TV, music, sports and politics. Only at Madame Tussauds can guests "grab hold" of their favorite stars and enjoy countless interactive experiences. Lifelike figures of Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Johnny Depp and Will Smith are among the more than 125 featured figures.

The British Royal Family’s favorite desserts, created by Chef Darren McGrady for the late Princess Diana and the Princes’, were previewed at the British Consulate in Hancock Park, before being served at the May 1st BritWeek10 Anniversary Gala at the Fairmont Hotel.

Darren was personal chef to Queen Elizabeth II, Diana, Princess of Wales and Princes’ William and Harry for fifteen years and has cooked for five US Presidents. He is now a chef, author, culinary consultant, event planner and public speaker living in Dallas, Texas.

Darren declined an offer from H.R.H. the Prince of Wales to become his Private Chef at St James Palace, and decided to pursue a new challenge in the U.S.A. where he moved to in 1998 with his wife Wendy. They have three children, Kelly, Lexie and Harry.

Darren recently became the first private chef invited to cook at the prestigious James Beard House in New York and is was featured on American Airlines on first and business class in-flight meals between Europe and the USA.
Prince William choose the chocolate biscuit cake as his groom's cake for the royal wedding.
Servings: Makes one 6-inch round cake (8 portions)
Ingredients
Cake
  • 1/2 tsp. butter , for greasing
  • 8 ounces Rich tea biscuits
  • 4 ounces unsalted butter , softened
  • 4 ounces granulated sugar
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate , for the cake
  • 1 egg
Coating and Decorating
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate , for coating
  • 1 ounce chocolate , for decorating
Directions
To make cake: Lightly grease a 6" x 2 1/2" cake ring and place on a tray on a sheet of parchment paper.

Break each of the biscuits into almond-size pieces by hand and set aside.

Cream the butter and sugar in a bowl until the mixture starts to lighten.

Melt the 4 ounces of dark chocolate and add to the butter mixture while constantly stirring.

Beat the egg into the mixture.

Fold in the biscuit pieces until they are all coated with the chocolate mixture.

Spoon the mixture into the prepared cake ring. Try to fill all of the gaps on the bottom of the ring because this will be the top when it is unmolded.

Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.

To coat and decorate: Remove the cake from the refrigerator and let it stand while you melt the 8 ounces of dark chocolate.

Slide the ring off the cake and turn it upside down onto a cake wire.

Pour the melted chocolate over the cake and smooth the top and sides using a palette knife.

Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature.

Carefully run a knife around the bottom of the cake where the chocolate has stuck to the cake wire and lift it onto a tea plate.

Melt the remaining 1 ounce of chocolate and use to decorate the top of the cake.
