 This Sunday August 24th Ramones fans will gather to celebrate Johnny’s life at the 10th Annual Johnny Ramone Tribute. The annual Johnny Ramone Tribute will take place at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where the eight-foot-tall bronze statue of the punk rock icon was constructed shortly following the guitarist's death.
The tribute is also seen as a memorial  hosted by Rob Zombie, along with Johnny’s friends Steve Jones (Sex Pistols), Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses). Fred Armisen (Portlandia, SNL) will also be there & may bring his punk rock alter ego, Ian Rubbish.
On September 15, 2004, Johnny Ramone died in his Los Angeles home at the age of 55 after a five-year battle with prostate cancer, less than a month before his 56th birthday.

Many of his friends and musical contemporaries came to pay their respects. After his death, his remains were cremated with his wife Linda retaining his ashes.

                                      Johnny Ramone, was best known for being the guitarist for the punk rock band The Ramones.          
 As the founding member of the band, he remained a member throughout the band's entire career, 1974-1996.
                                              In 2003, Johnnie appeared on Time's "10 Greatest Electric-Guitar Players".That same year, he was number 16 on the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" list in Rolling Stone, but in the new version published in 2011, he was ranked number 28.

Proceeds will benefit the Johnny Ramone Foundation & Dr. David Agus at the Center for Applied Medicine, USC.

The Devil's Rejects was a 2005 American horror film written and directed by Rob Zombie, and the sequel to his 2003 film House of 1000 Corpses. The film is centered on the run of three members of the psychopathic  antagonist family from the previous film, and now seen as antiheroic protagonists, with Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, and Zombie's wife Sheri Moon Zombie reprising their roles. At the time of its release and in the years ever since, the film has now a cult following.

LA Times' Food Festival "The Taste 2014" announced its line-up for Labor Day Weekend



The Taste will transform Paramount Pictures Studios’ back-lot into the ultimate epicurean pop-up and block party, Labor day weekend,  Friday, August 29th through Sunday, August 31st

The Los Angeles Times  announced the distinctive restaurants, dynamic demonstrations and topical discussions that will season The Taste, its annual Labor Day weekend celebration of the Southern California culinary scene. A who’s-who of Times critics’ best-reviewed restaurants – Girasol, Plan Check Kitchen + Bar, Fishing with Dynamite, Border Grill, Chichén Itzá, Acabar – is set to serve signature dishes during the three-day festival with more to come. Inspired conversations led by The Times Food staff will include chef and bartender insights on shopping the farmers market, a look at the history and influence of The French Laundry, and an exploration of foraged and found foods. Engaging cooking demos with James Beard Outstanding Chef Nancy Silverton (Pizzeria and Osteria Mozza), esteemed pastry chef Karen Hatfield (The Sycamore Kitchen, Hatfield’s), rising star Bruce Kalman (Union) and others will give attendees a glimpse into the city’s most revered kitchens.

  • The Times’ renowned Food staff, the festival’s co-hosts, and participating chefs and bartenders gather for a soiree with a focused collection of tastings, premium cocktail and wine offerings, and live entertainment. Restaurants include CAFÉ del REY, DeSano Pizza Bakery, Girasol, Guelaguetza, Hamasaku, Mexicali Taco & Co., Pedalers Fork, Phorage, Plan Check, Sotto, Sushi Roku, THE Blvd Restaurant, Waterloo & City.

  • Sunday Brunch – Hosted by Noelle Carter, Times Test Kitchen Director, and Thomas Keller, Chef/Proprietor of The French Laundry and Bouchon; Sun., Aug. 31st, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    Brunch gets its due at a family-friendly affair with demos from Carter, Karen Hatfield (The Sycamore Kitchen, Hatfield’s) and Casey Lane (The Tasting Kitchen). Russ Parsons will be on hand to discuss 20 years of The French Laundry with Chef Keller and Laundry alums Jeff Cerciello (Farmshop), David Hands (Bouchon Bistro) and Timothy Hollingsworth (Broad Museum Restaurant). Exploring the art and science of foraging, Gold will talk found fare with chefs Ari Taymor (Alma) and Wes Avila (Guerrilla Tacos) and wild food expert Pascal Baudar. Culinary mixologist Tricia Carr will cap off the evening with a crushed cocktails how-to.  4th Annual LA Food & Wine Festival kicks off August 21st, and is divided in-between Santa Monica, Downtown LA, Beverly Hills and Hollywood.


Its now the fourth year, the Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival, presented with support from founding partners FOOD &WINE, Lexus, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, JENN-AIR, and Delta Airlines.           It is a four-day epicurean event showcasing the finest in food and drink culture throughout Los Angeles, and culinary personalities from throughout the country.
The event spans the city and offers guests the chance to sample the cuisines and products from some of the most prominent epicurean influencers, while enjoying the sights and sounds of the entertainment industry’s brightest talents.
